Florida Smart ID by Thales is an official app-based version of your Florida driver license, providing a secure and convenient way to display proof of identity or age.
After downloading and activating the app, users can easily launch Florida Smart ID on their smartphone or smart device, select the type of verification needed, and present it for scanning by businesses or law enforcement. The great advantage is that your smart device never leaves your hand during the verification process, making Florida Smart ID a contact-free and convenient option for displaying proof of identity or age.
It is important to note that while Florida Smart ID by Thales is an official credential offered by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, it does not replace your physical driver license. According to Florida law, you must carry your physical driver license when operating a motor vehicle.

To activate Florida Smart ID, you can either enroll within the app or through your MyDMV Portal account. Alternatively, you can use your MyDMV Portal account to enroll and activate by receiving an email with an activation code. Lastly, create a six-digit PIN for additional security using the randomized keypad.

With Florida Smart ID by Thales, your personal data remains private. Only the necessary information for each situation is shared. For instance, when purchasing alcohol or entering a bar, Florida Smart ID only shares your photo and confirmation of meeting the age requirement. Details such as your name, date of birth, and address are kept private and not revealed to the person checking your Florida Smart ID.
